SYMPTOMS

P0335 – Crankshaft position sensor. Faulty circuit.
P0336 – Crankshaft position sensor A. Circuit range/performance.
Fault code recorded in the engine control unit.
The vehicle displays one or several of the above-mentioned fault codes.
Engine warning light (MIL) ON.
Engine does not start.
Engine starts and then stalls.
Engine jerks.

CAUSE/S

Defect in the wiring of the crankshaft position sensor.

NOTE: This informative bulletin only affects those vehicles that are within a specific manufacturing date.

SOLUTION

Repair procedure:

  • Read the fault codes recorded in the engine control unit using the diagnostic tool.
  • Confirm that one or several of the fault codes that appear in the field symptoms of this bulletin are displayed.
  • Confirm that the symptoms that appear in the field symptoms of this bulletin are reproduced.
  • Check the condition of the wiring near the crankshaft position sensor.
  • Check the contacts of the crankshaft position sensor connector.

Carry out the following process if irregularities in the wiring or in the contacts of the crankshaft position sensor connector are detected:

  • Cut original wiring A of crankshaft position sensor B in area C (See image).
  • Remove clamp D and replace connector E of the crankshaft position sensor with a modified version.
  •  Secure the wiring in area F.

NOTE: There is a specific kit to perform the repairs mentioned in this bulletin.
